Question: Who was the nanny of Marie Antoinette's Children?
Answer: Marie Antoinette's Children had nurses (the term 'nanny' was not used before the 19th century) and governesses, but the only ones I actually know the names of are the ladies who bore the offical title of Governess to the Children of France. This was a coveted position, and was held by the Princess de Guemene until 1782, when due to a financial scandal in her family she was obliged to give up the post and was replaced by Madame de Polignac, who was a close friend of Marie Antoinette.
I don't suppose the Governess to the Children of France did any of the day-to-day care of the royal children, feeding them, changing them, bathing them etc. That would have been done by women of a lesser social status. But I haven't been able to find out the names of the women who would have done these things.
